Ed Vulliamy is a former American correspondent for The Observer (Great Britain). As a reporter for The Guardian and The Observer, he covered the Romanian Revolution, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Oklahoma City bombings, the 9/11 attacks, and the start of the Iraq War 2003. From 1991 to 1994, Woolliami covered the wars in the former Yugoslavia for The Guardian and won several awards for his work. He also directed a personal television essay for the BBC, Bosnia's Last Testament (1993). In 1995, Vulliami wrote an award-winning retrospective series of 12 investigative articles entitled Bosnia: The Secret War. In 1996, he became the first journalist to testify in an international war crimes trial, testifying at three trials in The Hague and for the prosecution of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. In 2019, Ed Woollamy was portrayed by actor Rhys Ifans in Gavin Hood's award-winning Hollywood film Official Secrets. Ed Woolliami's latest book is Louder Than Bombs: A Life with Music, War, and Peace. From 2022, Ed Vulliamy often visits Ukraine and writes about the war.
